So, two extrication teams have been put in place and will be on stand-by for the Formula 1 race days starting tomorrow. Each of the six people on the team has a role to play in the extrication process.
Each team is made up of a driver, two doctors and three paramedics, who are all volunteers.
The teams have been preparing and practising hard for the last few months to get it right.
This year, key officials heading teams such as the extrication teams are Singaporeans, unlike last year when they were Australians.
These officials monitor and control the activities of the stewards and marshals to ensure the smooth and safe running of the event in accordance with Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) regulations.
These appointments include the chief medical officer, clerk of the course and the emergency co-ordinator.
The reason for the change in staff is because last year, the Singaporeans did not have enough experience. This year, after having been through last year's race, they do.
