Streatham Redskins enjoyed a 5-3 win at Haringey Greyhounds in an incident-filled English National League clash on Sunday.
Backed by a noisy band of supporters the Redskins took charge from the start with Slovakian Peter Molnar going close early on but Saunders in the Haringey goal managed to claw the puck back off the line.
Streatham put sustained pressure on the Haringey goal over the next few minutes and it was no surprise when Molnar picked up a loose rebound and slid puck into the net to give the Redskins the lead.
With ten minutes gone the home side created their first chance when Scott Beeson forced Redskins goalie Will Sanderson to make a leg pad save and then was unlucky when the rebound bobbled past him.
Haringey stepped up the pressure and Gareth O'flaherty skated across the crease but could only shoot into Sanderson’s glove.
Soon after Stuart Appleby held the puck up in the corner for Gary Dodds to dig it out then skate to the net only for Sanderson to make another save.
